Stylish, comfortable and unique, this genuine 100-percent cowhide distressed dark red leather Chippendale wingback armchair came in on a European container, dating, most likely from the 1970s era. We’ve sold hundreds of these European leather chairs, and our customers who buy them are always thrilled with the quality and richness of the leather. This particular chair is in the antique dark red with black distressed highlights and some water spots that it make it look older. If you check out the back of the chair, where the buttons and pleats are, there are places that look like they’ve dripped. This was done purposely at the factory to give the look of age. In addition to the buttoned and pleated back and the wingback design, the chair features rolled arms that go down into the scrolled front Queen Anne pad feet, with brass antique-style tacks that accent the leather. It also has a removable cushion seat that is an indication of high quality. It is in overall excellent condition. The size is 32 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 21 inches wide on the inside, 35 inches deep from front to back, 41 inches high to the top of the chair back, 24 inches high to the arm, and 18 inches high to the seat. This is a beautiful matched pair of oval, molded, scalloped-top, lyre base Duncan Phyfe claw-foot parlor stands made in the 1940s by the Mersman Furniture Company, which is famous for making this style of formal furniture. This style is getting tougher and tougher to find, and this is a really nice pair. This particular gorgeous pair has wonderful scalloped tops, lyre base pedestal, carved legs that terminate in a dainty little claw-foot pedestal base. The overall size of each is 28 inches across, 19 inches deep, and 27 inches high. They are in their original finish, with the tops being re-sprayed to reveal the gorgeous grains in the mahogany veneers used. This is a lovely circle-seat or barrel chair Victorian spoon-carved Eastlake burl walnut armchair, dating from the 1880s. The only thing wrong with this beautiful chair is the upholstery, which needs to be replaced, but just imagine this piece with the right upholstery against the gorgeous dark antique walnut frame chair! It features circular arms and a circular seat with a diamond-shaped back, carved burl walnut trim all over and around the back, multi-turned spindle type legs, incise carved arm supports and a circle-carved seat front with big burl walnut trim. The overall size is 27 inches wide, 24 inches deep on the seat, 43 inches to the top of the chair back, and 17 inches high to the seat. This is a great-looking solid black walnut finger-carved gentleman’s armchair that dates from the 1870s era. A nice chair that has been upholstered somewhere along the line in a bright-blue brocade style fabric. Someone has taken the time and expense to do the back of the old medallion carved chair perfectly with a buttoned and pleated tufted back. That costs a lot of money, and someone undertook that expense, because down at the bottom, they even beaded the separation between the skirt and the seat cushion. These are just little details that cost a lot of money when doing upholstering. The frame itself is all solid black walnut, carved back in the 1870s or ‘80s. The upholstery, as I’ve said, has been replaced and the chair is all tight and sturdy, and you couldn’t ask for a nicer chair that’s all ready to go into the home. It has carved knuckle arms, cabriole carved legs, a serpentine front skirt, an oval medallion back, all of solid black walnut and all in nice shape and in the dark walnut stain. The overall size is 25 inches wide, 24 inches deep, 38.5 inches tall, and 17 inches high to the seat. You would have to go a long way to find a chair carved as well and in as much detail as this chair, other than a Belter or Meeks. It is all rosewood with possibly some walnut, it dates from the 1860s or ‘70s, and the hand-carved crest on the back is crazy! It has so many carved flowers, vines, leaves and such — I have never seen a Victorian gentleman’s armchair as heavily carved as this one. It has what appears to be the original upholstery, which is an antique green crushed velour, all buttoned and pleated in that tiny, extra-tight fashion. It’s very usable, has some minor water spots and stains, but no rips or tears. The frame of the chair is solid, and it looks to be in outstanding condition, with no cracks or seams in it. The patina is just what you would expect in a piece almost 140 years old — simply stunning. I will explain the chair, but you really should be seeing it in person to truly appreciate it. It has a carved crest with innumerable leaves, petals and flowers, a rose carved into the center, daisies, daffodils, and vines. It doesn’t stop, but comes down into where the arm joins the back, which is medallion shaped because the actual cushion sticks out. It is packed with carvings at the joint, and also where the seat joins the back. Then going down to the carved knuckles on the arms, and there are carvings on the elbows of the legs, and there is a wonderful carving of a rose right into the center of the skirt on the bottom. The only non-original thing on this chair is that someone replaced the casters on the front with casters that roll a bit smoother. The other interesting thing on this chair is that it is rosewood, not solid black walnut as we had previously thought. You’re buying a pre-Civil War rococo rosewood — not laminated but very thin, much like Meeks or Belter brands — oversized chair. This magnificent piece measures 28 inches wide across the outside of the arms, 21 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 23 inches deep from back to front, 44 inches tall to the back of the chair, and 19 inches high to the seat. Other than the replaced casters, everything on this chair is in wonderful, original and untouched condition. This wonderful pair of needlepoint chairs dates from the 1870s or ‘80s, features sturdy black walnut frames and is in great original condition. This is a beautiful solid black walnut Victorian gentleman’s and lady’s chairs dating from the 1870s or ‘80s. A beautiful matched pair, armchair and lady’s chair, both are oversized, with large medallion finger-carved backs, all solid black walnut construction. The armchair has open arms, carved knuckles, cabriole legs, a curved skirt, and curved seat. The upholstery is a needlepoint-type fabric, depicting a man and a woman on a lake on the backs of both the lady’s and gent’s chair. On the seats are big, colorful arrangements of brocade flowers. The background is dark gray, almost black, and against the original patina of the solid black walnut frames, it is stunning. The overall size of the armchair Is 25 inches across the arms, 22 inches deep on the seat, 37 inches to the chair back and 17 inches high to the seat. The lady’s chair is also large, 22 inches across the seat, 37 inches high and 17 inches high to the seat. The overall condition is good and the frames are all nice ant tight and the upholstery is all in good shape. You’re buying both chairs for one money. This exquisite chair dates from the Civil War era and is in amazing condition, with lovely needlepoint upholstery and really nice carving, as well as an unbelievable patina. This is a beautiful solid black walnut Victorian carved lady’s armchair that dates from the Civil War era, the 1860s or ‘70s. A fantastic looking chair on which someone has replaced the upholstery on the front and the seat with a needlepoint fabric featuring a dark background with a beautiful colorful floral scene in the center of the round seat and the oval back. The chair frame itself is unbelievable, tight and sturdy, with a burl panel on the top, beautiful figure carvings down the sides that swoop down into an oval design, carved hip huggers that go into the round seat and join it to the back, and beautiful cabriole carved legs that have a curved front skirt. It doesn’t get any better or cleaner than the patina on this Civil War-era chair, which is wonderful. The overall size is 24 inches wide, 24 inches deep, 40 inches high to the top of the solid carved walnut frame, and 18 inches high to the seat.
