This beautiful chair is an unusual Hunzinger platform rocker that dates from the 1890s. This particular model has a rectangular shaped back with barley twist wood on all the sides, and appears to be made of birch. It has rolled handle arms on top of all four barley twist posts on each side, and a barley twist wood turning on the platform base. The famous Hunzinger platform spring is all intact and easily identifies this as a real Hunzinger rocker. In addition, on this chair, you can see the remnants of the label on the bottom of the platform. The chair is finished in a dark reddish-brown stain finish, and is charmingly time-worn on the tops of the arms, and the needlework upholstery has a few flaws in it. The woodwork and the frame of the rocking chair is all intact and good. The needlepoint is old and worn, and will most likely have to be replaced if you want to sit in it daily, because otherwise it will just wear out further. There are wear spots on the headrest and in the center of the flower on the back and other parts on the back, and on the seat there are parts of the needlepoint missing. Unless you just wanted to use this chair for looks — and it IS good-looking — you will need to have it reupholstered. The overall size of the chair is 23 inches wide, 23 inches deep, 42 inches high to the top of the back, and 17 inches high to the seat. This is a very tough to find item these days, and we actively seek them out weekly across the country, which is why we get so many nice ones. The price is reasonable, the chair is rare and unusual, and the opportunity is yours to own a genuine Hunzinger! Hard to find, but easy to love, this is a beautiful 100-percent genuine English cowhide leather Chippendale wingback chair that dates from around the 1970s-’80s. It’s tough to date leather, but all the leather furniture we get from overseas dates from around this era, and the hundreds of our customers who’ve bought it are always really pleased with it. This chair has great form-shaped wings on the back, accented with brass antique-style tacks, beautiful upholstered rolled arms going down into a cabriole style leg, a removable seat cushion, a button-pleated back and just a gorgeous antique overall look with the distressed leather. The outstanding condition is only enhanced by how rare it is to find the dark antique green. The overall size is 32 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 19 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 35 inches deep front to back, 41 inches high to the top of the back, 24 inches high to the top of the arm, and 19 inches high to the seat.
