We are pleased to be offering today this very hard to find item in this turn of the century (1900's) platform claw foot rocking chair. You see Morris chairs, but rarely find platform rockers. We have been trying to purchase this one for over 5 years from the owner and he finally let us get this. It was hard for him to let go as he spent so much money for the leather cushions as he used an ox blood leather and it is all buttoned and tufted. I believe his wife told me that they spent over $450 just to have the cushions done! You are getting this beautiful example of a platform rocker that appears to be original finish, has hairy claw feet with a carved crest across the front of the chair, big bold arms that are supported with heavy duty spindles, big hairy open mouth lion heads on the top of the flat tiger sawn oak arms. It has the original hardware on the back to adjust to the recline you are most comfortable with (4 different adjustments) . It appears that there was an early repair on the left hand arm where there is a chip of wood repaired. Usually people use the arms to help lift themselves out and it is normal. The overall size is 30 inches wide, 30 inches deep and 44 inches high when the chair is in the upright position. It is a great looking chair that is all tight and sturdy. Shipping starts at $265 for a driveway delivery in our normal area. Please contact us prior to purchase to confirm that you are in our normal shipping area.
