This is an unusual set of petite Gothic-style chairs with many unique details such as egg-and-dart molding and the delicate size of the solid oak chairs.  This is a wonderful set of six matching Victorian-age oak Gothic style chairs dating from the 1880s to 1890s. What a beautiful and most unusual set: tapered design back with a gothic open carved crest in the center, diamond shape, with a leaf exterior, notched molding across the top, and dainty little flowers along the very peak of both outside rear legs. One unusual thing about this chair is the egg-and-dart style molding on the outside border of the solid oak seat trim. These seats look like they were originally rush, but now have a fine woven twine on five of them, in good useable condition, and one is still rush material. Each chair is dainty and petite, which is odd for a gothic chair. Look at the side view of the chairs in our photos, note the curved design back with delicate little triple-post vertical in the very center below the gothic-style crest. The overall size is 17.5 inches wide, 17 inches deep, 39 inches to the top of the chair post and to the seat is 20 inches high.
