A piece of America’s past that will fit in your home. This stately period flame mahogany hand carved sofa dates from 1860s. This is a Civil War era item with all veneer intact and in good shape. What is most unusual is the two hand carved rose crests that join in the v-shaped section of the flame mahogany back. A previous owner reupholstered it years ago with yellow antique crushed velour fabric, which is still useable and in good condition, with no rips or tears, and only a few small water spots. This magnificent piece of furniture has carved leaves and flowers across the forearms, a serpentine ribbon molded front crest with hand carving and carved legs. Everything is hand carved on this sofa. The size of this impressive sofa is 80 inches wide at the widest point. Inside of the arms it is 57 inches wide. Front to back is 26 inches deep, and the highest point of the couch back is 36 inches. To the top of the arm is 25 inches high, and the height of seat is 18 inches high. The flame mahogany is in its original stain, and the patina is breathtaking. This sturdy and beautiful piece was around during the Civil War, and its condition shows it will be around for the next century. It will cost $385 to ship this historic piece to your home, within the normal shipping area.
