The sofa is constructed mostly of black walnut with some mahogany in the mix. It features the original finish, and has a fantastic patina!  The upholstery was redone we are guessing sometime within the last 20-40 years, and is usable with some wear, staining here and there, and some fading as well, where it may have been exposed to light from a window, etc.  Overall, though, it is entirely usable.  The sofa features some fantastic Rococo style carvings on the floral carved crest, finger carved arm rests, floral carved cartouche on the skirt—it’s beautiful!  Measuring 72 inches long, 32 inches deep, 37 inches tall to the back of the crest, and 18 inches to the seat, this is a beautiful antique sofa that dates from the late civil war era to the early Victorian era, and the frame remains in very nice condition.
