A true American beauty, this is a Civil War era lady’s chair with traditional carvings and a gorgeous, time-worn patina on the solid black walnut wood…Read More
Take a look at this beautiful original finish hand carved Civil War era grape and leaf black walnut Victorian lady’s chair that dates from the 1860s-‘70s. What a lovely chair, with a gorgeous patina that only time produces on the original woodwork of the finish on the solid dark walnut wood. The hand carved crest on the top is tremendous, with berries, nuts and leaves all detailed out, a wraparound molded back, cabriole style legs, and even a cluster of leaves and berries carved right in the center of the skirt. This chair has been reupholstered in the last 20 years or so, in an antique beige and mauve design, and is in fantastic condition, all buttoned and pleated. The overall size is 24 inches wide, 25 inches deep, 42 inches high to top of carved cluster and 17 inches high to the seat. It retains its original casters and finish, and other than the upholstery, it’s all original and beautiful. It will cost $165 to have this impressive chair shipped to your home, within the normal delivery area.
