These unusually styled period Empire chairs date from the 1850s, but are sturdy, tight and gorgeous, and ready for every day use…Read More
This is a magnificent and unusual set of four matching period Empire dining chairs from the 1850s era. An unusual look, with a sabre style hoop-back design with a multi-cutout center splat, all of flame mahogany. The post of the chair comes right down into the style of the seat frame. Each chair has sabre style front legs, is finished in a dark reddish brown stain finish, and is in outstanding condition. Someone has put a period style striped fabric on the chairs, which does show some soil marks, but you can probably clean those up with a good scrubbing I would think. The chairs each measure 18 inches wide, 17 inches deep, 36 inches tall and 18 inches to the seat. These are very tight and sturdy, and would look fantastic around a round mahogany table. Normally these period Empire chairs are too fragile to be used every day, but this is a set that will easily meet that challenge. A rare and wonderful find. It will cost only $225 to have this set shipped to your home, within our normal delivery area.
