SOLD    This rare and unusual Hunzinger platform rocker dates from the 1880s and features the famous spring design, as well as tons of barley twist

What a rare find: This is a beautiful and unusual Victorian-age Hunzinger platform rocker that dates from the 1880s. This is a gorgeous chair, made by old George. We specialize in this type of furniture, and we’re really pleased to offer this chair to you for sale. This one is kind of unusual, in a cherry stain wood, with double barley twist posts on both sides of the back and is all upholstered in a needlepoint-looking fabric that was obviously replaced at some point. It comes down into a cutout arm, with a grooved, carved support post with a barley twist front post that goes down into the bottom U-shaped support, that is supported with another barley twist. Even the cross-stretchers are barley twist! Down at the platform base, you see the famous, unusual-design spring that only Hunzinger had. The chair is in really nice condition. The overall size is 27 inches wide across the arms, 21 inches deep, 42 inches to the top of the chair back, and 18 inches high to the seat. It will cost only $225 to have this rare and unusual piece shipped to your home, within our normal delivery area.
